Three Ways: Jumpsuit

How to wear a jumpsuit

As is the circle of life and fashion, we see certain styles and trends make their way back into the public eye. While I think skinny jeans are considered a classic and are here to stay, right now styles from the 70’s are so popular. Think floppy hats, flared jeans, high-waisted pants, halter tops, platform wedges, round sunglasses… so many fun styles that don’t take themselves too seriously! One of my favorites has to be The Jumpsuit.

I have two jumpsuits, and every time I wear them, the response I get is, “You look great, but I could never pull that off.” When I think “Why not?” the conclusion I have come to is that most just simply don’t know how to wear it. So today, I’m back to show you three ways to style a jumpsuit- all with items (or similar items) you probably already have!

Style 1: Casual

Most of us have a denim jacket and boots in our closets. I chose my trusty cowboy boots to pair with this outfit because they’re comfortable and look good with just about anything. It doesn’t matter what style of boot you have- riding, ankle, cowboy- try them on with the jumpsuit. You might be pleasantly surprised at the result! I finished the look with a chunky belt, bracelets, mixed-metal earrings, and a bright red lip.

Style 2: Bohemian

For this look I tied a brightly colored scarf around my waist, added a statement necklace and big hoop earrings. I changed my lipstick from red to a more subdued shimmery peach. Flip-flops complete the look.

I know it looks like I’m not wearing a bra, but I’m actually wearing a spaghetti strap bralette. It has a shelf bra and just enough padding to make sure nothing shows through. They are comfortable and work great under tanks or other shirts where you wouldn’t want to see a thick bra strap. The best part- they come in so many colors, so you can find one that best fits your outfit.

Style 3: Dressy

I know a lot of women think of pearls as belonging with wedding dresses or cardigan sweaters. I say let’s bring them out of the jewelry chest and wear them everyday! I cherish these pearls because they were a gift from my husband from his visit to the Philippines. He scoured the markets to find the colors he knew I would love. And he was right; I adore them!

Here I added those pearls with a wide brim, black floppy hat and my favorite red pumps to create a look more suited to going out on the town. The makeup was still kept simple with a raspberry lip gloss.
