Last week was a busy one for us. We had all of my husband’s family in town and staying with us. It meant lots of eating out and staying up late for family movie nights.
As we were watching Pitch Perfect for the millionth time, I realized just how much I love the styles at the end of the movie. That perfect mix of the traditional Bella with the new Bella. I started thinking of how I could recreate the look with things I already have in my closet.
Creating a style inspired by your favorite movie is easier than you think!
I wanted to stick with the dressy/ casual mix, so I knew whatever I paired with my tan buckle wedges would have to be on the dressier side. I decided to go with this awesome sheath dress from Old Navy. It’s literally the perfect dress. It goes with everything, and you can do so much to change its appearance.
One of the tricks I use to change the way a plain dress looks is to take an elastic hair tie to gather and hold fabric inside at the waist. Doing this emphasized the narrowness of my waist and raised the dress’ hem from calf length to just below my knees. Check out this easy tutorial showing exactly how to do this!
I also used this tutorial from Refinery29 to tie my colorful vintage scarf. Add my comfy sneaker wedges and retro horn-rimmed sunglasses and it’s perfect!
This outfit is really comfortable! It’s cute, and the wedges are easy on my feet while I’m running around.
