As certain sources can verify, I have been in love with makeup- specifically lipstick- since I was a kid. And nail polish… but that’s a post for a different day.
I love the fact that you can change your entire look with just a change of lip color (and there are so many colors to choose from!) That makes me a happy girl!
A nude lip is great sometimes, but usually prefer something a bit brighter. Surprise, surprise. Throughout this summer I’ve preferred bold, vivid shades, and I think that my favorite summer shades will transition beautifully to fall.
I’ve never been one to wear only subdued lip colors during the day and more saturated colors only at night. Bright and pretty is good any time of day! And after receiving multiple compliments recently about my lipstick, I think I’m on the right track, but I know not everyone is as confident about their lipstick as I am.
I wanted to show that you can wear brilliant lips day and night, with a lighter more neutral eye and again with a smoky dramatic eye.
This is my classic red. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss #12. It goes with darn near everything. Side note: every time I think of Kate Moss now, I think of the movie About Time. Ms. Moss actually has a big part to play in the film even though she doesn’t actually appear in it. If you liked Love Actually, you’ll like About Time. Trust me.
I found this color because I was on the hunt for a duplicate for MAC Viva Glam Nicki, which is a bright hot pink. I ended up with this: Maybelline Sensational Vivids Shocking Coral. Instead of hot pink, it’s a hot coral.
This raspberry shade is probably my most worn (and most complimented) color. It’s Cover Girl Lip Perfection (now Colorlicious) #325 Spellbound. This particular line of lipstick stays on for hours.
Hikari Cosmetics Lipstick in Cabernet was an Ipsy find. I especially love the way this dark wine color contrasts with lighter eye make up.
And finally, purple. I never, ever thought I would be wearing purple lipstick, but here I am in Cover Girl Lip Perfection (Colorlicious) #372 Divine Wine. I’m slightly obsessed with how Kelly Osbourne looks, and that includes her lavender hair and lilac lipstick, MAC Dodgy Girl. While the MAC version is too light for me, I found this darker purple, and I love it!
There you have it- five of my absolute favorite bold lipsticks. I hope you’ve been inspired to go forth and not be nude!
