Have you heard? Gingham is back! And in a super big way.
It’s been recently seen in runway shows for Victoria Beckham, Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, and Wes Gordon. Ready-to-wear brands such as J.Crew and Dooney & Bourke are also featuring gingham looks. It’s one of those prints that can go from high to low, and it’s extremely wearable.
This gingham swing top from Old Navy can easily be worn with shorts, skinny jeans, flare jeans, skirts… Here I’ve paired it with an item that can be difficult to style- the tulle midi skirt.
The tulle skirt can sometimes be hard to wear, and difficult to pair with other pieces. You often see it paired with stripes or denim, pearls, and classic heels, but I like it with the oversized gingham.
I love this particular tulle skirt, because in a world of tutu-like skirts, this one is sleek, simple, and a midi length rather than a mini. I don’t feel like I’m playing ballerina dress up when I wear it. To preventĀ it from being to cutesy here with the gingham top, I’ve chosen to pair it with leopard booties to give it a little edginess.
Is this an everyday look? Honestly, probably not. But for an evening out or a nice lunch date- go for it; be bold!
What do you think? Do the gingham and tulle make a great pair?
