I love when winter finally gives way to the warmer temperatures of spring. I can put away my heavy coat and boots and break out the cute open-toe sandals. One of my favorite and most frequently worn types of summer shoes is the cork heel wedge.
I’ve had several pairs over the years that have just been completely worn out from overuse. This year I wasn’t really looking for another pair, but… sometimes the right thing just falls in your lap, and you have to grab it! You know how that goes, right?
These new cork wedges were found at Target in a most unusual place: the girls’ department! Honestly the thought never occurred to me to shop in the girls’ section for myself, but when I saw these I knew I had scored.
Most of the time I love a good high heel, but sometimes even I need to give my feet a break and wear something a little lower. I really like how these have enough of a heel to make my legs look a little sleeker, but not too much heel so that I’m dying after only a few minutes.
Plus, I’m a sucker for gold. It’s my go-to metal. The straps on these sandals have gold threads woven through, and the cork heels have little flecks of gold. I love this little bit of shine and sparkle.
The best part? These look great with everything. Here I have them paired with cropped cotton drapy pants and a white tunic (both from Old Navy), but they will also look great with dresses, shorts, jeans… I’m thinking these may be the most versatile shoes I own!
Here you also see me holding a small zipper pouch instead of a handbag. I’ve started using those really cute Ipsy bags as small clutches when I don’t want to use my normal, big purse. These small bags are the perfect size to hold my ID, cash, cards and some lipstick!
Do you have a summer go-to? If not, don’t be afraid to look in the most unlikely of places for that new find! What will you be wearing this summer?
