Splurge vs. Steal!
As I finish preparing this post, I’m sitting in my own home for the first time in a week. My family just got home from touring the Southwestern states. We drove through from Austin to the beach in Florida, then decided to continue to explore up through Savannah and Charleston.
We had no real plan for our trip, just a map and a desire to see something new. My husband and I are adventurers at heart; we love to travel and explore new places and cultures, and we’re trying to instill that same love in our kids. It was a great trip, but I admit that it’s nice to be back home and not living out of a suitcase.
You may have already seen it- THE summer sandal of 2016. It’s covered in pom poms and tassels, and when I first saw it I hated it. I thought it was too busy and all the embellishments were overkill. And I honestly I didn’t want to spend the money on trend that I can’t see lasting any longer than through the month of August.
Until I found a scaled down version at my local Target. One that I actually liked! The Sam & Libby for Target version is a basic tan T-strap sandal with a cluster of colorful tassels over the middle strap. Cute, simple and not too pricy! Perfect for a seasonal trend. If I ever get tired of the tassels, I can remove them and still have a cute basic tan and gold sandal.
If you already have a plain pair of sandals that you want to embellish, check out this tutorial by The Fashion Hour for an easy way to add a touch of personality. It’s easy and inexpensive!
What do you think of the pom pom sandal trend? Love it or hate it?
