Whether it’s sophisticated, elegant, casual, or yoga pants- everyone has their own unique personal style. My style tends to lean more towards whimsical. I love color and pattern, and I can’t imagine living only in neutrals or a sleek, monochromatic color palette. While it definitely works for others, it’s just not for me.
That being said, I’m always willing to take a risk and try something new.
One of the biggest styles in the past year is athleisure- which is defined as casual clothing designed to be worn for both exercise or doing just about anything else. I know, it sounds very vague. Think of all those girls in yoga pants, jogger pants, sneakers- that’s athleisure.
Even though it’s not really my aesthetic, I admire certain aspects of it. You’ll never see me in trainers unless I’m exercising, but I do like more casual tennies. When I found these cute white canvas shoes at H&M, I knew they’d be a perfect starting point for a dressed up athleisure style.
With my H&M canvas shoes as the base for my style, and added the cropped Harper Trouser from Old Navy. These are a relaxed fit, cropped pant (you know I love to show a little ankle!) that are so comfortable and flattering! I definitely have more junk in my trunk than most, but I felt like these pants skimmed it just the right way. I might like the Harpers as much as my beloved Pixies!
To keep the look more casual I wore a soft, sueded olive green cocoon shell, also from Old Navy. But the pants and shoes would also look great with a traditional button down left untucked with rolled sleeves. There are so many ways to make this work!
While it’s not my everyday look, I find myself really liking this casual style. I hope I’ve inspired you to try something new- who knows, you may find something you really love!

What would you love to try, and how is it different from your normal style? I would love to know, so don’t be afraid to leave a comment!
