I don’t get many opportunities to get dressed up in anything fancier than jeans. So, when I recently attended a baby shower for a friend expecting her first baby, I was happy to put on something a little more special.
Since my friend is having a baby boy, I wanted to honor that in a small way. I found this sweet baby blue maxi dress tucked away in the back of my closet and knew it was perfect.
I originally bought this dress for a trip I took to Athens, Greece. The loose cotton kept me nice and cool in the sweltering Athens heat, and it’s still comfy in the heat we live with here in Austin.
The dress itself doesn’t need many accessories to add to it since it has an adorable eyelet pattern at the neckline and on the ruffle hem. It has a bloused silhouette that I accentuated with a wide buckled brown belt that showed off my waistline.
All the accessories had an interesting texture to them- the straw tote, the laser cut lace up wedges, and the gold medallion earrings. This adds extra interest and keeps things from being too boring! I guess the whole look worked in my favor, because one friend could only comment, “Wow!” 😉
We’ve kept ourselves busy lately getting ready for the end of the school year. My baby just graduated from preschool and will start kindergarten this fall, and I’ve finished my last year of teaching preschool. I’m officially a retired teacher!
I hope you are having a fantastic spring!
