Austin Fashion Week 2016
Last week I had the privilege of attending the first night of the runway shows for Austin Fashion Week. Hosted by FashionXAustin for the past 8 years, the event has only gotten bigger and better!
This year the debut night featured 8 designers (including previous Project Runway contestants and many local designers) and 7 capsule designers. The main designers each sent roughly 20 looks down the runway, and the capsule collections included three designs. Each collection was dramatically different, and every designer brought a unique point of view.
My personal favorites were the tailored animal prints from Daniel Esquivel, the flowy gowns by Felix Cueva of Archetypes, the silk dresses and hand knits by Masha Osoianu Designs, and the fun and colorful prints from Katie Kime (…who also has a fantastic home decor collection. This art print is calling my name and needs to find a home on my walls stat!), and the handmade jewelry by Betty Alida.
After just one night, I can say that I truly cannot wait to see what Austin Fashion Week 2017 brings!
